Purpose
Operating under the authority of the Maine Emergency Management Statute (MSRA Title 13-B, Chapter 13), the Somerset County Emergency Management Agency provides the ability to effectively prepare for (to mitigate before it happens), train for (through participation in joint exercise and execution of mutual aid agreements), and best manage (by completing operational and planning capabilities) emergency management activities to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Somerset County in the event of one or several of the many all-hazard occurrences or disasters.
Types of Emergencies
Somerset County is subject but not limited to fire, flood, drought, hurricanes, ice storms, mass casualty incidents, hazardous material chemical spills, and terrorist weapons mass of destruction incidents.
