Somerset County Communications Center

Everett Flannery III, Reserve Dispatcher

Experience

I am currently employed at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in the Emergency Medical Services Department as a full-time Paramedic. You may also see me working for AMS Emergency Services and Delta Ambulance. I have been in the EMS Field since 20000 and I truly believe it is the best job in the world.

I decided to broaden my public service experiences in 2002 by applying to Somerset County Communications Center as a reserve dispatcher. I have always had an interest in this field and have been accustomed to the radio "ling" by using it on a daily basis and by growing up listening to the scanner with one parent being in law enforcement and the other in EMS. At times I have found it difficult to field a call requiring an EMS response and being stuck behind the radio; but in the end, my dispatching the call was just as important as the medical care the person on the other end of the phone line received.

I also take part in the Somerset County Communications Center 9-1-1 Red E. Fox Program that educates grade school children in the use of 9-1-1. It is extremely important for kids to know what to do in an emergency. Our program teaches that through the use of a fun video, a hand out for the kids AND the parents, and the knowledge and experience of the teaching dispatchers. A very fun and educational program.

My Hobbies

I enjoy the outdoors and hiking. My favorite sports, that I try to stay involved in, is soccer and ice hockey. When I'm not working and actually have some time off, I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend, family, and friends.

Interests

My primary interest continues to be Emergency Medicine. I love public safety and what it entails. There is nothing more satisfying than helping someone in need. There is no other feeling like it in the world!!

So, Be Safe, and if YOU have an emergency, you'll know how to get ahold of me!
