Duncan Steele, Dispatcher

Duncan came to the Somerset County Communications Center after serving for 31+ years at the Skowhegan Police Department. There he served 20 years as a police officer, then 11 years as a 9-1-1- dispatcher. In December 2004 the Skowhegan Police department turned over it's dispatching to Somerset County.

Duncan grew up in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, attending the Hatboro-Horsham High School. After graduating in 1964 he attended The Culinary Institute Of America, then in New Haven, CT. After working at M.I.T. in the Cafeteria system he entered V.I.S.T.A (Volunteers In Service To America) in 1969 where he served in Oklahoma. After that he worked as a cook at the Potlatch Forest Lumber Mill in Lewiston, Idaho before coming to Maine.

In 1974 He started working at Skowhegan Police dept.

Duncan has lived in Norridgewock and now resides in Mercer.
